SWISS FALCONRY

BIRD CONTROL

Swiss Falconry GmbH, based in the Basel region, specialises in effective and sustainable bird control in urban and agricultural areas across Switzerland. We manage populations of corvids (crows, magpies), feral pigeons, seagulls, and cormorants. For protected species such as starlings, we provide targeted and gentle solutions – for example in vineyards.

Our approach combines the traditional art of falconry with modern technology and complementary measures. Depending on the situation, we deploy birds of prey such as falcons, buzzards, or owls – often in combination with proven deterrents like bird repellent gels or nets – to achieve a lasting bird control effect.

Our process:

  • On-site inspection – Situation analysis with individual action plan and cost estimate.
  • Intensive initial phase – Regular deployment of several birds of prey, combined with additional methods to quickly clear affected areas.
  • Optional maintenance phase – Flexible follow-up measures to ensure long-term success and prevent the return of new colonies.

Advantages of falconry-based bird control:

  • Sustainable impact – Combination of birds of prey and complementary methods
  • High success rate – Typically up to 100% clearance rate
  • Tailored & flexible – Measures adapted precisely to location and bird species
Swiss Falconry – Your reliable partner for professional bird control in Switzerland.

ABOUT US

Simone Cilluffo is the co-founder and head falconer of Swiss Falconry GmbH. From an early age, he has been fascinated by the art of falconry – a passion he turned into a profession in 2012. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in bird control and in training a wide range of birds of prey, working in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland.

His career has taken him from major projects, such as bird control at Italy’s largest landfill, to falconry shows in renowned theme parks, historic castles, and international events. Through regular advanced training with leading falconry operations, he has continuously expanded his expertise.

Over the years, Simone has trained and worked with nearly all common birds of prey, including Saker Falcons, Peregrine Falcons, Buzzards, Goshawks, Lanner Falcons, Bald Eagles, and various owl species. This breadth of experience enables him to select the optimal combination of birds of prey and complementary measures for each specific situation.

With the founding of Swiss Falconry GmbH in 2020, Simone combined his passion and expertise to provide professional and effective bird control solutions to companies, municipalities, and private customers throughout Switzerland.

"For me, falconry is more than a job—it's my calling. I find fulfillment every day in working with my birds and achieving sustainable results for our clients."

Our Team

Our Harris Hawks are ideal for all bird control situations, as they can fly in almost any area and even together in flocks. When they fly together, their effect on pest birds is particularly strong. They specialize in most pest bird species, especially crows and pigeons.

Our saker falcons are large birds of prey that have an intimidating effect on pest bird species. They fly very fast and high, allowing them to cover very large areas. Our Scirocco is trained to drive away pests without killing them. Bismillah and Lino specialize in hunting crows.

TESTIMONIALS

NOVARTIS

The Campus Falconer

Simone Cilluffo is one of the few professional falconers in Switzerland. While the noble art has remained largely unchanged since he began working with birds of prey, the urban environment presents modern falconers with challenges that go beyond hunting. Listen to Cilluffo discuss how he bases his training on natural scenarios, what it's like to keep the Novartis campus clear of crows, and why this is the best job he's ever had.

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of Swiss Falconry and their birds of prey, a pesky flock of several dozen pigeons was successfully scared away from our factory building!

Birds of prey are not only used for hunting privately these days, they are also used for nuisance bird abatement, this is especially effective for flocks of birds on agricultural land in order to avoid damage to the crop (for example wineries), airports in order to reduce the danger of bird strikes on the planes as well as in urban environments to reduce numbers of pigeons and crows.
